Miranda Britton is an artist
and
jeweller working out of her
home studio in Windermere, Ontario.
After receiving her BFA in visual art from Vancouver’s Simon Fraser
University,
she returned home to the Muskoka area
in 2001 and became an active member of the local artistic community. |
|
In 2006 she indulged
a lifelong fascination with personal adornment by
enrolling
in the Jewellery Essentials program at the Haliburton School
of the Arts.
Since
completing the program, Miranda has developed a
distinctive aesthetic, creating
thoughtful and intimate
works of art for the body that are inspired by the objects
and shapes that Miranda encounters in her daily life.
Although she works primarily
with precious metals, Miranda finds the stories told by a discarded
photograph, an old piano key or a hand picked beach stone just as
precious as any gemstone and often incorporates these objects into her
jewellery. Recently, Miranda has begun exploring the medium of encaustic
painting and is experimenting with ways of integrating wax and paint
into her jewellery. |
